Drawing workshop for youth. (4 week series, 6 hours total) $65
April 10, 17, 24, May 1 6:00-7:30pm
We will review the basic fundamentals of drawing with hands-on activities, building on our drawings as we go by adding details and shading. Each participant can build on their skills as far as their inspiration can take them.
This workshop will focus on composition and form, learning to easily work from a photo or life reference. We will spend time learning how to shade to create dimension and help bring our drawings to life. Learning to see details, and incorporate them into our drawing will help add a realistic touch.
Some reference photos will be provided, I encourage each participant to bring along a book, figure or photo that they would like to draw so we are each drawing subjects that interest us. All necessary materials will be provided. Materials from home can certainly be brought in, however, I will not assume responsibility for personal property.
Individual support will be available throughout the series. We will work on individual projects within a group setting, as skill levels vary.
A group workshop is a great way for youth to learn from one another, gain confidence in their abilities, and inspiration to learn new skills. A multi-age group is preferable as it provides diversity in skill set, interests and reduces a competitive atmosphere.
Leonardo da Vinci said, “Painting embraces all the ten functions of the eye; that is to say, darkness, light, body and color, shape and location, distance and closeness, motion and rest.”
Creating art trains you to concentrate on details and pay more attention to your environment. In this way, it acts like meditation.
