Better than an electric pump
I initially started pumping using one of the cheaper (relatively, it was still $80!) brands of electric pump, and never really got on very well - it wasn't very comfortable or productive. I would be pumping for more than 30 mins and get only about 1 oz of milk! When the electric motor gave up after only a few weeks I decided to buy this manual pump and I'm glad I did. It's very easy to use and very comfortable - no unpleasant "pulling" sensation like there was with the electric one. It's also quicker - I got 2.5oz of milk in about 20 minutes, and it didn't feel like a battle to achieve this! The pump action is very light, and I didn't have to pump very fast, so my hand didn't get sore or tired. The manufacturer says the pump can be used with one hand, but I found that I needed to use two hands - one to keep the suction cup in position, and one to work the pump, but maybe I'll get better with practice. Easy to clean as well. I wish I'd had the confidence to go with this manual pump from the outset as my money would have been much better spent on this than on the electric pump which didn't work very well and then broke!
